Grand Mobility – Advanced Joint Support Formula for Dogs by Grand Meadows
Product review by Karen Pickering

Endorsed by the National Animal Supplement Council, Grand Mobility provides maximum support for healthy joint function and connective tissue health, formulated to help protect your dog's joints for long-term benefits. The product is a combination of hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate, MSM, type II collagen, omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and 600 mg of glucosamine. As we talk about aging horses this month, I thought it appropriate to take a look at ways to help our aging dogs as well.

My border collie can be a picky eater, but she accepted these beef-flavored wafers without a second thought. I wanted to start her on the product young, in order to get her used to them before mobility became an issue. She currently plays hard and has no soreness or stiffness, so I can only speak to its effectiveness from the perspective of the science behind the product, but she readily eats the wafer, and that’s half the battle!

New Opti-CleanseTM Psyllium-Based Supplement from Manna Pro Removes Sand from Horses’ GI Tract

Trusted livestock feed manufacturer Manna Pro has just introduced a new psyllium-based horse supplement to aid in the removal of sand from the digestive tract. Opti-Cleanse™ helps support normal GI health and function in horses of all ages, and it is the only psyllium-based supplement enriched with Diamond V XPC™ yeast culture for added palatability.

Dr. Rob McCoy, Manna Pro’s Vice President of Nutrition, says horses that are fed on the ground or consume pasture grasses and hays may ingest dirt and sand, which accumulate in the GI tract. “Over time, the dirt and sand will build up in the intestines and eventually cause discomfort,” Dr. McCoy says, “and some adult horses may carry 30-60 pounds before showing signs of pain.”

Although horses naturally rid their system of sand and dirt in their feces, the amount of sand is often too great to be eliminated naturally. “Psyllium-based supplements are widely regarded as the most safe and effective way to eliminate excess sand,” Dr. McCoy says.

Manna Pro’s line of Equine Health supplements was developed by PhD nutritionists and is backed by Manna Pro’s satisfaction guarantee. For more information, please visit www.mannapro.com.

Kingston, Washington Author Shows that Horses Make Conscious Choices

Offered the chance, horses make conscious choices to provide service and show love. In their new book, Horses with a Mission: Extraordinary True Stories of Equine Service (New World Library, September 2009), best-selling, award-winning authors Allen and Linda Anderson chronicle 21 true stories of horses who have chosen their paths in life or led people to find their own callings. These horses give without expecting a return, other than maybe the occasional carrot.

Renowned equine artist and founder of Spirit of Horse Gallery, Kim McElroy of Kingston, Washington has her story featured in this unique book.

“Avenger – Destiny Comes Full Circle” is a story of synchronicity in which McElroy’s early inspired painting of Destiny’s Avenger launched her career as an equine artist and later reunited her with the horse from thousands of miles away. The painting also connected Avenger with one of McElroy’s clients who had longed for him as her dream horse and wound up saving his life.

Horses with a Mission is available in bookstores nationwide and online. Learn more at www.horseswithamission.com
